La serie Samsung Galaxy S6 de 2015 recibe una nueva actualización de software

Samsung está lanzando una nueva actualización de software para algunos teléfonos inteligentes más descontinuados. El Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge y Galaxy S6 Edge+ de 2015 son los últimos receptores. El mes pasado, la compañía publicó actualizaciones para Galaxy J7, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ y Galaxy Note 8.

Según la publicación holandesa GalaxyClub, el Galaxy S6 estándar recibirá la actualización con la versión de firmware G920FXXU6EVG1 en Europa. El del Galaxy S6 Edge es G925FXXU6EVG3 y el del Galaxy S6 Edge+ es G928FXXU5CVG3. La actualización está disponible para unidades desbloqueadas y bloqueadas por operador en la región. Es posible que ya haya comenzado un lanzamiento global.

El registro de cambios oficial para esta actualización no menciona nada. Contiene solo las referencias genéricas a las mejoras de estabilidad del dispositivo, correcciones de errores, funciones nuevas y/o mejoradas y otras mejoras de rendimiento. Pero los teléfonos de siete años están recibiendo gran parte de la corrección de GPS no detallada que Samsung implementó en los otros dispositivos descontinuados el mes pasado. Si bien la compañía no ha revelado mucho sobre la solución, parece lo suficientemente importante como para implementarla en estos dispositivos de años.

La serie Galaxy S6 no obtiene nada más con esta actualización

Como era de esperar, Samsung no está sembrando nada más aquí. Ni siquiera un nuevo parche de seguridad, y mucho menos una nueva versión de Android. El Galaxy S6 y el Galaxy S6 Edge permanecen en la versión de seguridad de junio de 2018, mientras que el Galaxy S6 Edge+ recibió por última vez el parche de seguridad de agosto de 2018. Los tres modelos debutaron con Android 5 Lollipop y recibieron actualizaciones hasta Android 7 Nougat. En ese momento, Samsung solo ofrecía dos actualizaciones importantes del sistema operativo Android para sus modelos insignia. Ahora ofrece cuatro.

La corrección de GPS es el único cambio que obtienen los teléfonos Galaxy S6 con la última versión. El tamaño del paquete OTA (por aire) también refleja eso, un poco más de 12 MB para el Galaxy S6 Edge+. Dicho esto, la serie Galaxy S8 recibió la misma actualización con un paquete OTA de 420 MB.

Sin embargo, si todavía usa uno de estos teléfonos Samsung, le recomendamos que actualice a un modelo más nuevo. La serie Galaxy S6 no ha recibido nuevas actualizaciones de seguridad durante años y es vulnerable a riesgos de privacidad y seguridad. Pero hasta que actualice, debe instalar esta actualización lo antes posible. Como de costumbre, el nuevo parche se implementará en todas las unidades elegibles en todo el mundo en los próximos días. Se le notificará tan pronto como el paquete OTA llegue a su unidad. También puede buscar actualizaciones manualmente a través de la aplicación Configuración.
