El mandato de los cargadores universales para relojes inteligentes y dispositivos portátiles puede estar en las cartas

La Unión Europea (UE) ha estado haciendo algunos movimientos interesantes en el sector tecnológico desde hace algún tiempo, pasos que benefician a los usuarios. El que más se destacó es el estándar USB-C que la UE ha aplicado desde finales de 2024. Eso obligará a Apple a cambiar su forma de hacer iPhones. Bueno, parece que más adelante también podríamos obtener un mandato de carga universal para relojes inteligentes y dispositivos portátiles.

Esta vez, sin embargo, no es la UE la que mueve los hilos. Esta información proviene de la India. La Oficina de Normas de la India, mejor conocida como BIS, está considerando el mismo movimiento que la UE con respecto al Tipo-C. Sin embargo, eso no es todo en lo que piensan.

El secretario del Departamento de Asuntos del Consumidor, Rohit Kumar Singh, le dijo a PTI que el BIS puede insistir en que todos los próximos dispositivos portátiles sean compatibles con una solución de carga estándar. Se dice que se verán afectados productos como relojes inteligentes, rastreadores de actividad física, auriculares inalámbricos y audífonos.

Esto solo se está considerando por ahora, al parecer, ya que BIS no tiene una regla clara. Diferentes OEM utilizan diferentes métodos en la actualidad. Los pines POGO todavía se usan, mientras que otros usan la carga inalámbrica correctamente. Los cargadores de relojes inteligentes vienen en todos los tamaños y variedades, pero la mayoría usa imanes para mantenerlos en su lugar mientras se cargan.

Implementar esto puede resultar un poco más complicado que con los teléfonos inteligentes.

Implementar un mandato de cargador estándar significaría no solo usar el mismo método de carga, sino también tener cargadores que puedan cargar otros dispositivos. Esto requiere algo de reflexión, ya que no es tan simple como «agregar un puerto Tipo-C».

Los relojes inteligentes vienen en todo tipo de formas y tamaños diferentes, y lo mismo ocurre con los rastreadores de actividad física, etc. Cuando hablamos de carga inalámbrica, esos cargadores deben estar hechos para una amplia variedad de dispositivos.

La UE probablemente esté pensando lo mismo que el BIS, porque ese es el siguiente paso lógico después de hacer obligatorio el Tipo-C. Eso definitivamente reduciría los desechos electrónicos, especialmente a largo plazo.

La UE no ha hablado realmente sobre esto todavía, pero esta información del BIS podría incitar a la UE a hacer una declaración también. Sin embargo, no hay un cronograma claro para este mandato, por lo que tendremos que esperar y ver qué sucede.
