Samsung e Intel están discutiendo la colaboración de semiconductores a medida que los vientos en contra económicos globales golpean duramente a la industria. Según Business Korea, el CEO de Intel, Pat Gelsinger, se reunió con dos altos ejecutivos de Samsung el viernes pasado para analizar nuevas oportunidades de colaboración. Discutieron «cómo superar una recesión económica mundial», dice el informe.

Según los informes, Gelsinger llegó a Corea desde Taiwán y visitó los campus de Samsung en Hwaseong y Suwon. Se reunió con Kyung Kye-hyun, presidente y director ejecutivo de la División de Soluciones de Dispositivos (DS) de Samsung, y con Kim Woo-joon, presidente del Departamento Comercial de Redes de la División DX. El CEO de Intel también pudo haber tenido conversaciones con otros ejecutivos de Samsung durante su visita. Sin embargo, no pudo reunirse con Lee Jae-yong, presidente ejecutivo de Samsung, ya que este último llegó a Corea el mismo día de un viaje de negocios a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos.

Esta fue la segunda gira de Gelsinger por Corea este año. Previamente visitó la patria de Samsung en mayo y se reunió con el entonces vicepresidente Lee, quien no había retomado todo el poder en la empresa porque estaba en libertad condicional. Fue indultado en agosto después de numerosas apelaciones. Esto le permitió asumir formalmente el control del conglomerado, que es el mayor contribuyente a la economía de Corea del Sur.
