El nuevo ‘Modo de mantenimiento’ de Samsung protege la privacidad mientras se repara su dispositivo

Ya sea que su pantalla esté rota o haya un mal funcionamiento, siempre puede enviar su teléfono para que lo reparen. Pero siempre existe el riesgo de robo de datos cuando otra persona tiene su teléfono. El nuevo modo de mantenimiento de Samsung tiene como objetivo proteger su información confidencial cuando envía su teléfono a reparar.

Si lo piensas bien, tu teléfono contiene una tonelada de información. Parte de esa información probablemente no le importaría si alguien más la viera, pero probablemente también tenga datos privados que no quiere que otras personas vean. Por ejemplo, los números de teléfono de familiares y amigos, direcciones, mensajes privados y tal vez incluso información de tarjetas de crédito.

Puede que no sea lo primero que se te ocurra, pero cuando le das tu teléfono a otra persona para que lo arregle, confías en que esas personas no estarán husmeando en tu teléfono mientras trabajan en él. Para ofrecer a los usuarios un poco más de privacidad, Samsung ha implementado el Modo de mantenimiento.

La función apareció por primera vez en la versión beta de One UI 5 de Samsung y esencialmente crea un nuevo perfil de usuario con una variedad de restricciones que impiden que otras personas accedan a sus datos mientras se repara el dispositivo. Esto incluye bloquear el acceso a mensajes, fotos y documentos locales. La función incluso evita que los extraños obtengan las aplicaciones que ha descargado.

En el modo de mantenimiento, las funciones principales del dispositivo siguen operativas. Si bien el extraño puede generar datos o cuentas, una vez que el usuario deshabilita el modo de mantenimiento, todo eso se eliminará.

El vicepresidente y jefe del equipo de seguridad de Mobile eXperience Business en Samsung, Seungwon Shin, dijo esto en el blog de la compañía sobre el puesto:

El modo de mantenimiento se lanzó por primera vez en Corea a principios de este año, pero Samsung anuncia oficialmente su lanzamiento mundial. Se espera que ciertos dispositivos lleguen en los próximos meses (la compañía evitó nombrar ninguno de los dispositivos) que se ejecutan en One UI 5. Y el lanzamiento se expandirá a más dispositivos el próximo año.
