Google ha advertido a los usuarios de Android e iOS sobre las ubicaciones aproximadas de las fotos, informa Phonearena (a través de The Sun).

Esta característica le permite estimar y encontrar las ubicaciones de las imágenes mediante la detección de puntos de referencia y fondos. Si bien esto parece una característica útil, la compañía le advierte que cambie la configuración relacionada si desea más privacidad.

Según el anuncio de Google, la ubicación de las fotos se puede obtener de varias formas, como las ubicaciones estimadas por Google Photos. La compañía continúa explicando que han dejado de usar el Historial de Ubicaciones para estimar las ubicaciones de las fotos, pero continuarán estimando la ubicación de las fotos cuando la opción «Estimar Ubicaciones Faltantes» esté habilitada.

Google quiere que cambies la configuración aproximada de las ubicaciones de las fotos en la aplicación Fotos

El gigante de las búsquedas ahora ofrece a los usuarios dos opciones en la aplicación Google Photos. Una vez que abra la aplicación, puede mantener o eliminar las ubicaciones aproximadas. Si decide eliminarlas, recibirá un mensaje que dice: «Eliminar ubicaciones de fotos estimadas según el historial de ubicaciones puede provocar la pérdida permanente de esas ubicaciones estimadas. Sus fotos se conservarán».

Las ubicaciones aproximadas de las fotos pueden estar habilitadas de manera predeterminada para algunos usuarios. siga el Configuración de fotos > Ubicación > Fuentes de ubicación camino para comprobarlo. A continuación, compruebe si el interruptor «Estimar ubicaciones que faltan» está activado o desactivado. Si no desea que Google rastree las ubicaciones de sus fotos, puede desactivarlo.

Para eliminar los registros de ubicación de las fotos guardadas anteriormente en la aplicación Google Photos, seleccione la foto y toque «Editar» en el menú adicional de tres puntos. Los usuarios de Android e iOS podrán decidir el destino de sus ubicaciones aproximadas antes del 1 de mayo de 2023. Google elimina automáticamente los datos de la aplicación Fotos una vez transcurrido este tiempo.
