Era inevitable que Google lanzara una segunda versión de Tensor, el primer sistema personalizado en un chip (SoC). La compañía incluso confirmó que estaba en camino en mayo de este año cuando presentó la serie Pixel 7.

Sin embargo, Google nunca ha utilizado un nombre formal para el conjunto de chips. Es decir, hasta hoy. Visto por primera vez por 9to5Googlela página de inicio de Pixel 7 recientemente actualizada en Google Store revela el nombre del nuevo SoC: Google Tensor G2.

Google Tensor G2 debutará en Google Pixel 7 y Pixel 7 Pro. Google también anunció formalmente la fecha de lanzamiento de esos dos teléfonos, que es el 6 de octubre de 2022. A las 10:00 a. m. ET de ese día, Google presentará los dispositivos por completo en un evento en persona en Brooklyn, Nueva York.

En cuanto a las especificaciones estrictas de Google Tensor G2, actualmente estamos un poco a oscuras al respecto. Los rumores sugieren que Google se quedaría con el diseño de CPU 2+2+4 original de Tensor, que consta de dos núcleos potentes, dos núcleos medianos y cuatro núcleos livianos. Si es así, Google debería realizar optimizaciones en otras áreas para que la CPU sea más rápida que su predecesora.
