Los teléfonos Galaxy S7 y Galaxy S8 reciben una importante actualización

Samsung sorprendió a todos la semana pasada al lanzar una nueva actualización de software para el teléfono inteligente de gama media Galaxy J7, de siete años de antigüedad y discontinuado desde hace mucho tiempo. Trajo algunas mejoras en la estabilidad del GPS. La misma actualización ahora se está implementando en algunos dispositivos Galaxy más descontinuados. Las series Galaxy S7 y Galaxy S8 reciben esta importante corrección de GPS hoy.

El Galaxy S7 y el Galaxy S7 Edge reciben la nueva actualización con la versión de firmware G93*FXXU8EVG3. El paquete OTA (por aire) para el dúo pesa unos modestos 31 MB, según una captura de pantalla compartida por GalaxyClub. Esta es la primera actualización para los teléfonos desde noviembre de 2020, cuando recogieron el parche de seguridad de septiembre de 2020. La última versión no trae un nuevo parche. Y, por supuesto, los teléfonos tampoco obtendrán una nueva versión de Android. Debutaron con Android 6 Marshmallow a principios de 2016 y terminaron sus vidas con Android 8 Oreo.

Esta actualización de GPS para Galaxy S8 y Galaxy S8+ lleva la versión de firmware G95*FXXUCDVG4 y pesa mucho más, 420 MB. Pero estos teléfonos tampoco reciben un nuevo parche de seguridad o una versión de Android. Permanecen en el parche de seguridad de abril de 2021 y en Android 9 Pie. El dúo debutó con Android 7 Nougat en marzo de 2017.

Los registros de cambios oficiales de estas actualizaciones no detallan lo que se ha corregido o mejorado con el GPS. Pero parece lo suficientemente importante como para que Samsung implemente nuevas actualizaciones de software en teléfonos de los que nos hemos olvidado.
