Nos dijiste: no estás listo para los teléfonos inteligentes de solo 64 bits

Google reveló discretamente que los dispositivos Pixel 7 fueron en realidad los primeros teléfonos inteligentes Android de 64 bits. El procesador Tensor G2 de estos teléfonos admite operaciones de 32 bits, pero la empresa decidió desactivar la compatibilidad con 32 bits en el software.

Sin embargo, los desarrolladores externos revelaron formas no oficiales de brindar soporte de 32 bits a la serie Pixel 7 a principios de este mes. Teníamos curiosidad por saber cuántas personas estaban interesadas en la compatibilidad con aplicaciones de 32 bits. Así que pusimos una encuesta en nuestra noticia.

Resultados

Al momento de escribir este artículo, se contaron poco más de 1,100 votos en esta encuesta, y resultó que la opción más popular fue «No, no me importa». Esto representó ~ 47% de los votos.

Mientras tanto, casi el 31 % de los lectores encuestados dijeron que la compatibilidad con 64 bits era importante para ellos. Finalmente, ~22% de los encuestados dijeron que valoran la compatibilidad con aplicaciones de 32 bits, pero no es imprescindible. Sospechamos que estos lectores tienen algunas aplicaciones desactualizadas, juegos abandonados o aplicaciones descargadas que no ofrecen versiones de 64 bits.

Sin embargo, es interesante notar que casi el 53% de los lectores encuestados dicen que les importa el soporte de aplicaciones de 32 bits de alguna manera. Por suerte para ellos, los procesadores insignia de Android de 2023 todavía ofrecen soporte de 32 bits.
