Samsung está trabajando en secreto en un nuevo producto AR

Samsung puede tener un nuevo producto AR (realidad aumentada) en proceso. La publicación holandesa GalaxyClub vio el producto en desarrollo con el número de modelo SM-I120, pero los detalles son escasos. Probablemente sean anteojos AR, aunque no podemos descartar la posibilidad de un auricular más avanzado.

Samsung dejó de lado sus esfuerzos de VR (realidad virtual) hace unos años y cambió su enfoque a AR. Ha presentado solicitudes de patentes para varios productos AR a lo largo de los años. La compañía también mostró un prototipo de sus anteojos AR de primera generación en CES 2020. La pareja filtró videos conceptuales oficiales poco después, lo que nos dio una idea de qué esperar. Sin embargo, más de dos años después, un producto de este tipo todavía no ha salido por las puertas de Samsung.

Mientras tanto, el gigante coreano ha continuado con el trabajo. Presentó más solicitudes de patentes y también hizo un kit de desarrollo para gafas AR, lo que permitió a los desarrolladores externos crear software AR. Este último logró la certificación Bluetooth SIG en octubre del año pasado con el número de modelo SM-I110. El SM-I120 recién descubierto parece ser el próximo modelo. Desafortunadamente, no se sabe si también es un kit de desarrollo o un dispositivo prototipo, o si Samsung tiene un producto AR comercial que está a punto de salir al mercado. Si es así, podemos verlo llegar al mercado en 2023.

Por ahora, solo sabemos que Samsung está trabajando detrás de escena en tecnologías alrededor de AR. El SM-I120 se encuentra en algún lugar de los laboratorios de I+D de la empresa y puede o no ver la luz del día. Tal vez la empresa se esté tomando el tiempo para crear un producto revolucionario. A pesar de existir durante años, AR, VR y MR (realidad mixta) todavía se consideran las tecnologías del futuro. Samsung prefiere pantallas MicroLED para dispositivos AR

Estos paneles tienen ventajas de luminancia o brillo sobre los paneles OLED, afirmó el líder del grupo Samsung Display, Kim Min-woo, en el evento de la industria MicroLED Display Workshop en Corea del Sur.
